Sermon series: John 3:16

The most recognizable verse in the Bible. It is well-known for a good reason. It is probably the most concise and clear presentation of the gospel. It tells us how we can be right with God. What is more important than that? In fact, it's important enough to do a whole sermon series on this one verse. We'll bring in some other verses to help out, don't worry.

Answer Sheet

The promise of God is for all the "whoevers" in the world. It is the least exclusive club you can join. Surprising considering the perks of the club. What country club could compare to heaven for eternity?

The most famous conversation, probably the most famous in history, is the conversation Jesus had with Nicodemus. The conversation was all about grace.

How do we respond to God's love and his wonderful gift of grace through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ? We believe. The kind of belief that means we trust God with our entire being.

6. May 9, 2010 – Hell? No!

Luke 16:19-31, 2 Peter 3:3-10

If we believe (trust God with all our being), then we will not perish. This does not mean we will be spared physical death. That is something that we all must face. It means that we will not have to fear the second death--hell. Nobody wants to talk about hell anymore but we should understand it because we certainly want to avoid it.

7. May 16, 2010 – We live eternally

Rev 21:1-22:6, 1 Peter 1:3-12

Life eternal makes all the difference in this life. It is a place where everything we have learned in this life is put into practice. All injustices are corrected. Our incomplete growth is completed. Our relationships are continued. God finally cleans up his good creation that was sullied and cursed by our sin. I hope you are ready for it.

8. May 23, 2010 – The first gospel sermon

Acts 2:14-41

One last sermon on the subject of John 3:16. How can we be sure that we are saved? We find out from the first gospel sermon--the first time that the message of Jesus Christ was preached to a large group. Peter on the Day of Pentacost.
